It’s important when ordering safety signage that you order the right thing. Your business should carry out a detailed risk assessment, which can be done via Risk Assessor and safety signs should be used if they will help to reduce the residual risk of the area. It’s important to remember that safety signs are an addition, not a replacement to other methods of control.

Your business should also ensure that staff are aware of and understand the different meanings of safety signs and signals seen or heard during their work – There’s not point ordering safety signage if nobody knows what it means. It’s your responsibility to make sure what your designing or ordering is correct – if you’re unsure we recommend taking a course from a recognise safety training provider.

Remember, it’s not just a case of shoving a sign on the side of your building. You need to make sure your sign is in a position where it can be seen and understood. It needs to be maintained to ensure it’s capable of performing the function it’s intended for. This can involve routine cleaning or replacements.

SAFETY SIGNS & COLOURS

Remember, it’s not just a case of shoving a sign on the side of your building. You need to make sure your sign is in a position where it can be seen and understood. It needs to be maintained to ensure it’s capable of performing the function it’s intended for. This can involve routine cleaning or replacements.

Where safety signage is used in a workplace it should be sufficiently large and clear enough to be easily seen and understood. All safety signage should be adequately illuminated, durable, securely fastened and properly maintained.

Safety signage is only effective if it’s seen and understood. Too many signs placed together present danger of confusion or can make important information too easy to overlook – ensure your safety signs are distributed in a logical, easy to read manner.
